January 11: Grading Papers
The light dappled through the trees, sparkling and crisp. Cold and glorious, it was Tuesday and the sun was shining. As I sat cozy on my couch, I noticed the golden light touched warmly across the papers I was grading in preparation for my first day back at school. A long, slender shadow wedged behind my pencil as I wrote tips on each paper.
“Take care to indent each new speaker,” I remind the writer, commenting with the hope that she will read this and take heed. I suspect these comments will glide over these student authors like my pencil does across this vibrant page. I write them anyway because there is one student who will notice and one day be thankful.
